Did you know Romeo and Juliet lived in Montecchio?

Montecchio Maggiore, whose skyline is characterized by two strategically overlooking medieval towers, is a small town located in the Agno valley, close to the Berici hills and Vicenza. The two castles, entitled to Romeo and Juliet (the Bellaguardia and della Villa castles respectively), are supposed to have been the real settlement where the worldfamous lovers' tragic story took place.

Writer Luigi Da Porto, from Vicenza, imagined Romeo and Juliet's novel - that later inspired William Shakespeare - by observing the two ruins.

Juliet's castle hosts a restaurant with a capacity of approximately 100 guests, and it's also the right location for a unique wedding, besides being used for meetings and congresses. Just for you to know... :-)
